This session is about navigating the complex duality of joy and grief in the postpartum period. While there are so many beautiful things to celebrate, we should not avoid or reject our own grief. This class supports expectant couples in feeling comfortable expressing their grief while embracing the new addition. Grief arises in postpartum in many ways, from the obvious loss of independence, to other less discussed constructs such as no longer being physically connected to your baby, the loss of expectancy or something to look forward to, and the ability to spend quality time with your friends or partner. While these are all sacrifices we willingly make to have our babies, it can still be challenging. This one-hour class gives you tools and validation to open up communication with others about what you’re feeling. You’ll be thankful for any new communication strategies when baby comes!
