What Is It Like to Work with Dr. Moya?
I take a dynamic, relational approach to psychotherapy, blending multiple philosophies and therapeutic practices to create a treatment plan tailored specifically to you. This matters because everyone’s needs are unique—just like every pregnancy journey is unique. If you’re seeking support during this exciting yet challenging transition, finding a provider who truly understands pregnancy and maternal mental health should be a top priority. I’m here to equip you with the tools to navigate the emotional complexities of trying to conceive, infertility, perinatal mood disorders, and parenthood. And I’m here to help your relationship weather the stressors that often accompany these stages.
I’m a healer. I’ve always known that helping others is my calling, and therapy is the most meaningful way I know how to do that. I’m also a mother who understands firsthand the joys and challenges that come with conception, pregnancy, birth, and parenthood. I remember when I was first pregnant, people would say, “You’ll be such a great mom because you’re a therapist!” While their support was kind, it felt like added pressure. Yes, I had the knowledge—I knew how hard working with children could be, I knew even the most educated parents needed help sometimes, and I knew how harshly society judged parents based on their children’s behavior. I worried that if my own child had a public meltdown, it might be bad for my career. But what I’ve found is that parenthood sparks community. And I want to walk that journey with you.
In therapy, we’ll navigate whatever phase of parenthood you’re in—together. My goal is to empower you to be the best version of yourself, as often as possible. Life isn’t perfect, and I don’t expect anyone to be. We’ll create space for everything: the rage, the grief, the jealousy, the self-doubt, the body shame, and the mom guilt. I’ll help you recognize all the ways you’re thriving and giving so much of yourself to your family. I’ll guide you in setting boundaries and prioritizing self-care—without the guilt.
When you work with me, you’ll always have someone in your corner. I’ll be there to cheer you on, to witness your growth, and to sit with you in moments of pain. I’ll help you find joy in this season of life, and I’ll hold your hand through the parts you wish you could skip.
Your journey is safe with me.
